RESEARCH FOCUS
Cat’s work focuses on the intersection of alcohol use and victimization among sexual minority women, drug-facilitated sexual assault, sexual and gender minorities, and interpersonal trauma.
Dr. Munroe is an associate scientist at ARG and assistant professor of psychology at Purchase College whose research focuses on interpersonal victimization and its consequences, with emphasis on trauma, trauma recovery, and substance use disparities among sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations. Their work explores underrepresented traumatic experiences—including victimizations experienced by SGM individuals and those sexually victimized by women—that are often excluded from dominant narratives and subject to stigmas that complicate recovery, as well as alcohol-related health disparities faced by SGM communities.
