Dr. Niles Zoschke, MPH, DrPH (they/them), is a public health professional with 13 years of experience in community organizing, nonprofit leadership, public health practice, and research. They are a postdoctoral research fellow at the Alcohol Research Group, part of the Public Health Institute at the University of California, Berkeley. Guided by a commitment to health equity, Niles focuses on substance and tobacco use within LGBTQ+ communities, applying qualitative methods to dissemination and implementation research. Niles previously helped launch SmokeFreeSGM, a project promoting smoking cessation among LGBTQ+ individuals, and contributed to Project HOMES, evaluating 15 recovery residences for people using medications for opioid use disorder in Texas. At the City of St. Louis Department of Health, they developed, implemented, and evaluated Queer Mpowerment, an HIV prevention program for transgender youth and young adults. Additionally, they chaired the Health Equity Strategic Planning Committee and advanced health initiatives within the department. Throughout their career, Niles has led strategic planning and program implementation for grassroots organizations advocating for LGBTQ+ workplace protections and disability rights. As a transgender person, their lived experience, combined with their public health expertise, enables them to champion diversity and dismantle inequitable systems in every professional setting.
