Drinking Patterns & Ethnicity: Impact on Mortality Risks

Funding: NIAAA R01 AA016644

This project will conduct a secondary analysis of existing data to enhance understanding of patterns of alcohol consumption and the epidemiology of alcohol-related problems and mortality. Objectives include addressing risk and protective factors in the United States population and in white, black and Hispanic subpopulations of both genders (helping elucidate disparities in alcohol-related mortality), the impact of drinking history on mortality, and methodological issues in pattern measurement and analytic strategies.
