Congratulations to ARG senior scientist Cheryl Cherpitel, DrPH, who received a sub-award to study the effects of cannabis use in motor vehicle crashes in the emergency room. A strong association has been established between alcohol use and motor vehicle collisions (MVC’s), but less is known about cannabis use and MVC or the interaction of cannabis with alcohol and other drugs as a risk factor for such collisions.
Oregon Health and Science University’s School of Emergency Medicine heads up the project through a grant from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
