We acknowledge that the Alcohol Research Group (ARG) is located on the unceded ancestral and traditional homelands of the Chochenyo-speaking Ohlone People. Recognizing that the land was, and continues to be, of great importance to the Indigenous People, we wish to honor the land itself and pay our respect to the Indigenous Elders past, present and future, and to all members of their communities who have stewarded this land throughout the generations.
We recognize that the Ohlone people are alive and continue to be flourishing members of communities around us today.
We acknowledge this statement is insufficient in making amends to the injustice against Indigenous Americans. We pledge to work with this community in East Oakland through volunteering and contributing to the Rematriation work of Sogorea Te’ Land Trust.
