Denise M. Zabkiewicz, M.P.H. Background Information and Areas of Research Denise Zabkiewicz is an associate scientist and pre-doctoral fellow at ARG, where she also serves as principal investigator of a study analyzing substance abuse problems and welfare service dynamics. Since 1999, Zabkiewicz has worked on ARG’s Welfare Client Longitudinal Study in several capacities. As a programmer/analyst, she has used event history analyses to study the relationships between alcohol and drug problems and welfare dependency. She has managed fieldwork data collection, performed scientific analyses, and disseminated study results through professional meetings and peer-reviewed publications. In addition, Zabkiewicz is working on a doctorate in
