Anne Lown, Dr.P.H.

Anne Lown is an associate scientist at ARG. Her current research interests include: the psychological, behavioral and physical health effects of trauma. She has studied alcohol use patterns in relation to reported interpersonal violence among Mexican Americans, women on welfare, women from the National Alcohol Survey, and crack-using women. More recently, she has described alcohol consumption patterns among childhood cancer survivors and their siblings.

Lown completed a post-doctoral fellowship in 2002 that focused on mental health problems and alcohol use among Mexican American women exposed to interpersonal violence.

She received her doctorate in public health from the University of California at Berkeley in 2000 and a master's in public health from Columbia University in 1992. Her master's work focused on studies of crack use and HIV risk among women living in New York’s East Harlem and South Bronx.
