Maria Nunes Dinis, Ph.D.

Background Information and Areas of Research

Maria Nunes Dinis is an affiliate scientist at ARG and an associate professor at the division of social work of the California State University at Sacramento.

Her research interests include: alcohol/drug treatment, policy, and prevention; abstainer-modeled organizations; alcohol and drug history; international social work; educational exchange programs related to social work; women’s health; and multicultural issues related to alcohol/drugs, women, and global social work.

Dinis holds a master’s in social work from California State University in Sacramento and a doctorate in social welfare from the University of California at Berkeley. She speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish.

She is a member of the Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects (CPHS) at the California Health and Human Services Agency.
